Cigarettes

Today, it somehow made so much sense to me
That a cigarette could make it easier to breathe.
Sometimes all you need is a little more substance;
Some sort of reason to keep the air coming
Into your broken and weary body,
Despite every little thought in your head
That tells you not to bother.

This piece was inspired by a poem called Cigarettes by Patrick Forrest.

People are condemned to fit into society in order to find happiness. We can no longer be ourselves, without being judged or mocked.

Just like this girl in the picture, we are slowly losing ourselves, finding comfort in things that are slowly killing us.

The bright and striking colors depict our happy days, just by finding comfort, at first we're delighted. However, through time, we start to change, transform into things that we are not. And happiness turns into depression, therefore, our own death.

In the end, we can barely see the girl, thinking that living seems like a roll of the dice.

Each side, has a different taste, experience and life.

The colors I used depict different periods of life; green for energy, life, safety, yellow for hope and happiness. The red represents dangers, violence and fears we face. And at last, the black represents death.
